Fascinated by the power of imagery and narrative, Kate Brinkworth’s work explores the tension between illusion, perception, and reality. With an early passion for film and storytelling, she became absorbed in the visual language of cinema — how light, colour, focus, and composition shape emotion and meaning. This cinematic sensitivity continues to inform her meticulously composed still-life paintings, where every object, reflection, and shadow plays a part in a larger visual narrative.

Brinkworth began constructing her own sets during her Fine Art studies at Nottingham Trent University, collecting objects charged with intrigue — dice, insects, letters, cameras — and using them to stage intimate, symbolic scenes. These compositions became the foundation for her distinctive practice, in which she translates photographic precision into paint, heightening reality through saturated colour and luminous detail. The result is work that feels both hyperreal and cinematic — an invitation for the viewer to step into the frame and engage with the mystery within.

As her practice has evolved, Brinkworth has continued to explore the interplay of light and desire — from the seductive glow of neon to the hypnotic rhythm of nightlife and the quiet drama of reflection. Her paintings balance technical mastery with a visceral sense of atmosphere, capturing the allure and tension at the heart of contemporary culture.

Brinkworth graduated with First-Class Honours in Fine Art from Nottingham Trent University and has exhibited internationally since 2003. Her work has been shown with leading galleries including Mark Jason Gallery, Alon Zakaim Fine Art (Cork Street, Mayfair), TAG Fine Arts, Envie D’Art (Paris), and Maddox Gallery, London. In 2015 she joined Coca-Cola’s global centenary tour celebrating the 100th anniversary of the iconic bottle design, and in 2024 served as Artist in Residence at the Hamilton Princess, Bermuda.

Collaborations include Supreme and Purling London, and she has worked closely with Winsor & Newton, delivering lectures and workshops on pigment and technique. She has served as a judge for the Theo Paphitis Art Prize and as a guest lecturer at universities across the UK.

Her work is held in major private and corporate collections worldwide, including Coca-Cola, The Rolling Stones, Team Penske, GUS, Domaine des Jeannes, Hamilton Princess Bermuda, and Haadthip, and has appeared at auction with Christie’s, Sotheby’s, Phillips de Pury, and Bonhams.
